Teleplay Sureste: The Voice of Southeast Mexico

In a region where national networks often overlook local voices, one channel decided to do things differently. Teleplay Sureste did not wait for permission to tell the stories of Yucatán, Quintana Roo, and Campeche. Instead, it built its own platform, hour by hour, broadcast by broadcast, until it became something rare in Mexican media: an independent, round-the-clock cable channel powered entirely by its own production.

That channel is the vision of José Luis Rojas Sarlat, a founder whose name has become synonymous with television production in the southeast of Mexico.

A Legacy Built on Decades of Production

Teleplay Sureste began operations in 2018, but its roots reach much deeper. The channel is part of a production house that launched in 1995, giving it nearly three decades of experience in storytelling, broadcasting, and regional journalism.

José Luis Rojas Sarlat created Teleplay Sureste alongside Javier Urrutia Acosta, two figures whose careers represent a long tradition of quality production in the region. Their experience is not simply a credential. It is the foundation that allows Teleplay to deliver consistent, professional content where many independent outlets struggle to survive.

From the beginning, the mission was clear. Teleplay would produce its own programming, serve its own communities, and remain independent. That commitment set the stage for everything that followed.

Reaching Communities Across the Southeast

Few regional channels can claim the reach that Teleplay Sureste has achieved. Its signal travels across three states, connecting cities, towns, and small communities that larger networks frequently ignore.

In Quintana Roo, viewers find the channel on Cable de la Riviera Maya, Cable Cozumel, and through open signal on Canal 5, with retransmission across cable systems. In Chetumal, audiences tune in through Telecable, and in Cancún through the Canal 10 Promovisión affiliates.

Yucatán offers an even broader footprint. Teleplay appears on channel 85 in Ticul, channel 17 of Telecable in Mérida, channel 16 in Tizimín through Cable Diversión, channel 14 in Tekax via Cable Imagen, and channel 14 across Akil, Maní, Dzan, Tzucacab, Peto, Ticum, Caxaytuk, San Marcos, Canek, Kancab, and Oxcutzcab. In Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, viewers connect through Telecable.

The channel does not stop at cable. Teleplay Sureste is available on digital platforms including ROKU, iOS, and Android through its dedicated app, and it reaches nearly 300,000 followers across social media. This multiplatform presence means audiences can watch from almost anywhere, on almost any device.

News Every Hour, Every Day

What truly distinguishes Teleplay Sureste is its commitment to original news coverage. The channel delivers news every hour and produces a live newscast with connections throughout the southeast.

Leading that coverage is Héctor Moreno, a former TV Azteca correspondent in the southeast and current correspondent for the Telefórmula news channel. His experience brings authority and depth to each broadcast. Alongside him, Rosalía Ocampo contributes a valuable perspective to the editions, working together with reporter Alejandra Parra. Both have spent years in the news division, strengthening the channel's editorial voice.

This team does more than report headlines. They give communities across Yucatán, Quintana Roo, and Campeche a window into the issues that shape daily life, from government initiatives to local culture and economy.

Sports, Entertainment, and New Talent

Teleplay Sureste is also the home of the Tigres de Quintana Roo baseball games, bringing live sports to passionate fans throughout the region. For many viewers, that coverage is a point of pride and connection.

The channel continues to expand its creative roster as well. Alfredo Rosado Triay recently joined the team. He is the creator and producer of the animated series "La gruta del Alux," a program that raised ratings on the platforms where it aired during the early 2000s. His addition reflects Teleplay's ongoing investment in original, memorable content.

This blend of news, sports, and entertainment demonstrates what independent production can achieve when guided by experience and genuine commitment to the audience.

What Makes Teleplay Sureste Different

In a crowded media landscape, Teleplay Sureste stands apart for three clear reasons. First, the trajectory of the people who built it, professionals whose names carry decades of credibility. Second, its status as the only 24-hour cable channel in southeast Mexico with its own production. Third, its multiplatform accessibility, allowing viewers to watch on cable, streaming devices, mobile apps, and the web.

The focus has always been independent, locally rooted production. While many channels rely on syndicated content or outside programming, Teleplay creates its own. That independence allows the channel to tell authentic stories, shaped by people who understand the region from the inside.

This is not a channel that simply fills airtime. It is a channel that fills a gap, giving southeast Mexico a voice that is confident, consistent, and proudly its own.

A New Chapter on the Horizon

The story of Teleplay Sureste is still being written. In the coming weeks, the channel will debut a new television studio equipped with the latest technology. This upgrade will allow the team to continue broadcasting news from anywhere in southeast Mexico with greater quality and flexibility.

The new studio represents more than equipment. It signals growth, ambition, and a refusal to stand still. For a channel that already holds the distinction of being the only 24-hour independent cable producer in the region, the investment reflects a clear belief in what comes next.

José Luis Rojas Sarlat and his team have proven that regional media can thrive on quality, independence, and connection to the communities it serves. The new studio is the next step in that journey.
