Two founders turn pharmacy, education, and resilience into a premium botanical wellness brand.

Dr. Jasmine Miles-Frazier, PharmD, has built much of her career around a simple expectation: when people place their trust in you, details matter.

As a licensed pharmacist, pharmacy professor, researcher, and now entrepreneur, Miles-Frazier has spent years in environments where credibility is not simply claimed–it is earned. That mindset has followed her from the classroom and pharmacy profession into an entirely different arena: building a consumer wellness brand.

For Miles-Frazier, entrepreneurship was not an obvious next step or a carefully mapped career move. Healthcare Formula began much more personally.

“I didn't start out thinking, ‘I'm going to create a wellness company,’” Miles-Frazier said. “I created something for people I cared about. When I started hearing how much they enjoyed using it and how it was becoming part of their routines, I realized there could be something bigger here.”

What began as a formulation shared among family and friends eventually became Healthcare Formula—and another opportunity for Miles-Frazier to apply the standards that had shaped her career in healthcare.

A Pharmacist's Approach to Entrepreneurship

Miles-Frazier's path to becoming a founder began long before Healthcare Formula.

Becoming the first doctor in her family required navigating higher education without an inherited blueprint for what the journey was supposed to look like. She ultimately earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and built a career spanning pharmacy practice, academia, teaching, and research. Today, she helps educate future pharmacists while continuing her own scholarly work.

That background influences nearly every aspect of how she approaches Healthcare Formula.

Where entrepreneurship can reward moving quickly, Miles-Frazier is accustomed to asking questions, examining details, and understanding the reasoning behind what she puts in front of people.

“I'm a pharmacist before I'm a product founder,” she said. “My training affects the way I think. I want to understand what is in something, why it's there, what we can responsibly say about it, and whether we're communicating that clearly to the consumer.”

That philosophy became central to the development of Body Soother Salve, Healthcare Formula's flagship product.

The vegan botanical salve combines ingredients including CBD, CBG, arnica, calendula, jojoba, MCT, sunflower, and vitamin E oils. Rather than building the brand around exaggerated promises, Miles-Frazier has focused on thoughtful formulation, transparency, and creating a premium body-care experience consumers can comfortably incorporate into their routines.

It is a distinction she considers especially important in a crowded wellness marketplace.

“I never wanted Healthcare Formula to be a brand that needed to make the loudest claim in the room,” she said. “I want the product, the formulation, and the way we operate the company to earn people's confidence.”

Building Without a Blueprint

Miles-Frazier knew pharmacy. She understood education, research, and the responsibility that comes with caring for patients. Building a business, however, required her to become a student again.

Creating a product was only one part of the process. Building a company around it meant learning about packaging, regulatory considerations, vendors, pricing, e-commerce, shipping, marketing, retail outreach, and consumer behavior—areas far removed from the clinical knowledge she had spent years developing.

“Having a doctorate doesn't mean you automatically know how to build a company,” Miles-Frazier said. “I've had to be willing to be a beginner again. There are things I've gotten right and things I've had to go back and change. But that's entrepreneurship. You learn, adjust, and keep building.”

And she has not built Healthcare Formula alone.

Co-founder Nouchise Dyl-Rowe brings experience in higher education, content creation, and digital storytelling, complementing Miles-Frazier's scientific and healthcare background. Family and friends have also been part of the company's development from the beginning—testing products, providing feedback, helping with branding and labels, filming content, and stepping in for the many practical tasks that come with turning an idea into a business.

For Miles-Frazier, those contributions mean that Healthcare Formula's growth has never been only about her own success.

The people around her supported her through milestones long before the company existed, and she wants the opportunities created through entrepreneurship to extend beyond herself. As the company grows, she hopes that growth can create room for the people who helped build it to grow alongside it.

“I'm very aware that I didn't get anywhere by myself,” she said. “As I build, I want the people around me to be able to build too.”

That philosophy has become part of how Miles-Frazier defines success—not simply by what she can accomplish personally, but by what she may eventually be able to create for others.

More Than One Version of Success

Miles-Frazier's career also challenges the idea that professionals must choose a single identity.

She is a pharmacist, educator, researcher, and founder. Rather than seeing those roles as competing with one another, she sees them as interconnected.

Teaching keeps her connected to the next generation of pharmacists. Research reinforces the importance of evidence and intellectual discipline. Pharmacy grounds her in the responsibility that comes with being a healthcare professional and caring for patients. Entrepreneurship gives her the opportunity to create something independently and discover how far it can grow.

That combination is increasingly becoming part of Healthcare Formula's identity.

The company has already begun receiving outside attention, including features in Women's Insider and USA News, Miles-Frazier has also been selected to appear on Inside Success TV's Women in Power.

But recognition is not the endpoint.

For Miles-Frazier, Healthcare Formula represents something more personal: the opportunity to build on her own terms. After years of pursuing clearly defined milestones in education and pharmacy, entrepreneurship has challenged her to trust not only her training, but also her instincts, creativity, and vision.

What began as something created for people she cared about has evolved into a much larger ambition. She envisions Healthcare Formula growing into a broader body-care brand while maintaining the standards and identity that made it worth building in the first place.

“I'm ambitious about where I want Healthcare Formula to go, but I'm also protective of what I want it to become,” Miles-Frazier said. “Growth matters to me, but so does being proud of what we built when we get there.”

The Next Chapter

There is an interesting contrast at the center of Miles-Frazier's journey.

Pharmacy is built around standards, protocols, evidence, and answers that can be defended. Entrepreneurship is different. Sometimes there is no established protocol, no clear next step, and no guarantee that the decision made today will still be the right one six months from now.

That uncertainty has required a different kind of confidence.

For someone accustomed to mastering the material, meeting the requirement, earning the degree, and reaching the next defined milestone, building a company has meant becoming comfortable with not always knowing exactly what comes next.

“I've spent so much of my life working toward the next defined goal—finish the degree, become licensed, teach, research, accomplish the next thing,” Miles-Frazier said. “Building a business is different. There isn't a syllabus telling you exactly what comes next. You have to believe enough in what you're building to keep going before you know exactly where it will lead.”

Yet there is something familiar about that challenge.

As a first-generation doctor, Miles-Frazier has created a roadmap before. Healthcare Formula simply requires her to draw a different one—this time in real time, with an idea that began among the people closest to her and a vision that continues to expand as she builds.

She is still teaching. Still researching. Still grounded in pharmacy. But she is also learning what it means to create something that belongs to her and the people building alongside her.

The destination may not be predetermined, but the intention behind it is clear.

“I want Healthcare Formula to become something much bigger than where it started,” Miles-Frazier said. “But I also want to look back one day and know that we grew it the right way. I don't just want to build something that sells. I want to build something that lasts.”
