Pinecrest Assault Suspect Arrested in Palm Beach County
PINECREST, FL — Authorities have apprehended a man accused of assaulting a woman in Pinecrest, after he was located in nearby Palm Beach County. The suspect, identified as Michael Angelo Figueroa-Hernandez, was taken into custody on Sunday at a hospital.
Details of the Incident
Pinecrest Police Chief Jason Cohen reported that the arrest followed a coordinated effort with the Atlantis Police Department. “With the assistance of the Atlantis Police Department, our detective successfully took him into custody, leading to his arrest and subsequent transport to the Palm Beach County Jail,” Cohen stated.
Allegations Against Figueroa-Hernandez
Figueroa-Hernandez, 25, was reportedly caught on surveillance footage riding a light blue bicycle and carrying a purple shoulder bag near the intersection of Southwest 69th Court and 128th Street on the morning of the incident.
Investigations revealed that Figueroa-Hernandez allegedly approached a woman walking in the area, bear-hugged her from behind, and made inappropriate physical contact. Fortunately, the victim managed to defend herself and escaped unharmed.
Current Status of the Suspect
The circumstances regarding why Figueroa-Hernandez was at the hospital at the time of his arrest remain unclear.
