Woman Denied Bail in Fatal Pompano Beach Hit-and-Run
Pompano Beach, Florida – A judge has ruled to deny bail for 37-year-old Ashley Bowen, who stands accused of driving under the influence and causing a fatal hit-and-run. The tragic incident occurred earlier this month when Bowen allegedly struck Sal and Patricia Marciante.
Details of the Incident
According to reports from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Bowen was intoxicated when the accident happened on the night of March 7. The couple was walking at the intersection of East Atlantic Boulevard and North Pompano Beach Boulevard when they were hit by Bowen’s vehicle.
Patricia Marciante sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Broward Health North. Regrettably, the medical team was unable to save her. “The damage of her being run over by both tires was so intense there was nothing they could do,” said Antonio Marciante, the brother of Sal.
Legal Proceedings
In a bond court hearing held on Tuesday morning, Bowen appeared hopeful for release, but her pleas were met with condemnation from the victims’ family. Antonio Marciante stated, “This is not your typical hit and run where she hit a pole or a car. She ran over a human being. Twice.”
Following the incident, Bowen left the scene but was apprehended a few hours later by law enforcement officials. The severity of the case prompted the judge to impose a no-bond hold, ensuring that Bowen will remain in custody until the resolution of her trial.
Victim Status
Sal Marciante, who survived the crash, is currently recovering from serious injuries and is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.
The ruling highlights the legal system’s response to instances of drunk driving and the often devastating consequences of such actions.
