NORTH LAUDERDALE, FLA. – A shocking incident occurred overnight in North Lauderdale, leading to the death of a grandmother and leaving her daughter critically injured. The stabbing took place in a residence located on the 1800 block of Runners Way, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Incident Details
Surveillance footage captured at approximately 1:44 a.m. on Saturday shows a man entering the home of 52-year-old Maguy Pouye. Although authorities have not officially confirmed the man’s identity, family members believe he is Pouye’s former boyfriend. About five minutes later, the footage shows him fleeing the scene.
Audio from the video recorded a woman’s voice pleading for help, crying out, “Call 911! I’m dying.” This woman is believed to be Pouye, who implored her son to seek emergency assistance.

The dispatcher, responding to a reported stabbing, instructed emergency teams to head to 1842 Runners Way at 1:52 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities found both Pouye and her adult daughter had suffered multiple stab wounds. Fortunately, her son and grandchild, who were also present in the home during the incident, did not sustain injuries.

The event has left neighboring residents in disbelief. Yolanda Franklin, a neighbor, expressed her shock at the tragedy, stating, “I’m without words, ’cause that’s never happened in this neighborhood. We don’t even have robberies or anything here.”
