Investigation Launched Into Hotshot Roadmap, LLC Amid Complaints of Fraudulent Practices
State and federal authorities are currently investigating allegations against Hotshot Roadmap, LLC, a trucking company based in South Florida. Concerns have emerged from individuals in the Haitian community who claim they invested significant amounts of money into the company but did not receive the expected returns.
Background of the Allegations
Among the individuals affected is Fabiola White, who, along with her boyfriend, sought to capitalize on the trucking industry. With aspirations of making a profit from small freight deliveries using heavy-duty pickup trucks, Fabiola turned to Hotshot Roadmap, LLC.
To start, she was required to purchase her own truck, an investment ranging between $15,000 and $20,000. Additionally, Fabiola paid $8,000 to have her truck included in the company’s delivery fleet. Despite signing a contract that promised a percentage of earnings from deliveries, she reported never receiving any job opportunities and subsequently requested a refund.
“He said, ‘What money?’ and disconnected the call. I’m highly ticked off. I’m just really upset,”
Responses from the Company
The individual in contact with Fabiola was identified as Yves-Paul Demesmin, although he does not appear on the state business records for Hotshot Roadmap, LLC. Responding to complaints, Demesmin suggested that the issues faced by Fabiola and others stem from a lack of understanding of the business sector.
“It’s a group that’s doing this to sabotage the company,”
Demesmin maintained that he does not owe Fabiola anything, asserting that her funds were allocated towards essential equipment and company insurance.
Community Concerns
Fabiola is not alone in her frustration. Other individuals, including one identified only as Jean, have come forward with similar grievances after participating in recruiting events conducted by Demesmin. He claims to have invested thousands of dollars without any compensation from the company.
“He said ‘No,’ he doesn’t owe us. Yeah,”
Demesmin’s recruitment efforts have notably targeted recent Haitian immigrants, with promotional materials presented in Creole. He has asserted that he aims to create business opportunities within this community, despite the mounting allegations against him.
Regulatory Action
As the investigation unfolds, multiple complaints have been lodged with both the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Florida Attorney General’s office. Authorities express serious concerns over the operational practices of Hotshot Roadmap, LLC.
