Danielle Collins Adopts Rescue Dog Crash After Miami Open
Incident at the Miami Open
During her time at the Miami Open, American tennis player Danielle Collins, currently ranked No. 15 in the world, encountered a poignant situation that would change her life. While near Hard Rock Stadium, Collins spotted an injured dog lying helplessly in the road, leading her to take immediate action.
Crash’s Rescue and Recovery
After finding the dog, named Crash, Collins arranged for veterinary care, ensuring that he received the medical attention he desperately needed. Following a five-day hospitalization during which Crash was treated with oxygen support, he is now on the road to recovery.
In a recent update on social media, Collins shared, “His breathing is back to normal, his wounds are healing, and he is definitely enjoying all the love he is receiving.” She expressed her gratitude for having been able to aid him, saying, “It was so incredibly painful to witness a dog in so much pain after being hit by a car…”
A New Family Member
Collins has officially adopted Crash, and she plans for him to join her other dog, a labradoodle named Quincy, who was seen courtside during her matches in Miami. Once Crash fully recovers, he will also attend training school.
“Thank you to everyone who prayed for Crash,” Collins noted in her Instagram post. She also acknowledged the dedicated veterinarians who facilitated his care, stating, “A massive thank you to the wonderful team of veterinarians that took care of Crash and helped him receive the best possible care!”
Collins’ Performance at the Miami Open
While her experience rescuing Crash was a significant highlight, Collins also made noteworthy strides in the tournament itself, winning her first two matches before being eliminated by top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in the round of 16.
