Incident Overview
In a concerning theft incident, a bulldozer valued at $70,000 has gone missing from a construction site located at Northwest 20 Street and Third Avenue in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood. Tony Stern, the business owner of Right Way Demolition, reported the loss after returning to the site on Monday morning.
Details of the Theft
Stern discovered the absence of his skid steer, a crucial piece of machinery for his operations. He expressed the financial impact of the theft, noting that his company had recently paid off the equipment and even installed a new engine prior to its disappearance.
Detectives investigating the theft have managed to retrieve a surveillance image capturing a white pickup truck making a turn near the construction site. The truck was documented transporting the stolen skid steer on a trailer. The image features identifiable markings, including a sticker associated with Stern’s business.
Ongoing Investigation and Concerns
As of now, more than a week has passed since the theft, and Stern remains uncertain about the fate of his machinery. He speculated various scenarios regarding its current location, from possible overseas shipment to local use by an unauthorized party.
“It could be overseas, it could be in the shipping container, it could be local, maybe somebody’s using it,” he stated.
Company Background
Right Way Demolition, founded by Stern 32 years ago, emphasizes integrity and commitment in its operations. The owner expressed his frustration over the theft, describing the emotional toll it takes on honest businesses trying to operate in good faith.
“Very frustrating. We paid for this machine. We recently paid it off. We actually put an engine in it not too long ago. So yes, it definitely hurts,” he said.
Community Call to Action
Stern has urged the community to assist in the recovery of his stolen equipment. He hopes someone might recognize the bulldozer and provide information to the authorities.
