(CNN) — It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than eight years since viewers were first introduced to the mysterious and intriguing retro show “Stranger Things,” but that time is about to end. Even more incredible.
Some of the cast and crew of the hit Netflix series announced Friday that production on Season 5 of the show, scheduled to debut sometime next year, wrapped this week.
Noah Schnapp, who played Will Byers on Stranger Things and first experienced the diabolical Upside Down in Hawkins, Indiana, in Season 1, paid tribute on Instagram.
“As I close this chapter of my life, I can’t help but be forever grateful for the amazing people I’ve met and the valuable life and career lessons I’ve learned over the past 10 years of my journey,” Schnapp wrote. He went on to say: “Top 10” alongside a carousel of nostalgic photos from the early days of the series.
Schnapp’s list also includes a nod to the Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things. Schnapp said, “The creative process takes time, but they take great care to create the perfect moment.” It’s okay to pay attention to things,” he said.
Co-creator Ross Duffer wrote on his Instagram that they have been “telling this story for almost 10 years.” Many of our cast members joined when they were kids, only 10 or 11 years old. Another cast member who commemorated the moment on social media was Finn Wolfhard, who plays Will’s best friend Mike Wheeler on the show. Wolfhard shared a photo of his younger castmates from the first season and wrote that he was “still in shock” that production on the final season was coming to a close.
“We shot it for a year, and I’m so sad when all my friends and characters are gone.
