Ringo Starr Returns To Country Music With His New Album,

Go over there, Beyoncé. Another giant of the music world has gone to the countryside. Ringo Starr is the latest artist to celebrate the genre…but this isn’t Ringo’s first rodeo when it comes to country music.

Ringo Starr (singing “Thankful”): “And now I’m grateful for the love you’ve shown me, the love you have for me that I never knew.”

This is just a taste of what you can hear on Ringo Starr’s new country release, “Look Up.” The album came about by chance after he met songwriter T-Bone Burnett.

Ringo Starr: “So I said, ‘Do you have any songs? “He said, “Yes, I got nine,” and I thought, “Why don’t you try producing for me?” And he said, “Of course.” ”

So T-Bone took the song to Nashville and prepared it for Ringo when he returned to Los Angeles.

Ringo Starr: “And I was here playing drums and singing, and it just came to me.”

“Look Up” is full of songs that he can relate to.

Ringo Starr: “You can put a lot of emotion into a country song.”

Ringo’s love for country began when he was part of a band you’ve probably heard of.

Ringo Starr: “Of course, with the Beatles, they gave us one song for each record, and some of them were country-ish.”

One of his signature numbers with the Fab Four is “Act Naturally.”

Ringo Starr (singing “Act Naturally”): “I make a movie about a sad, lonely man. All I have to do is act naturally.”

There are others. His second solo album was 1970’s fully country “Beaucoups of Blues.”

Ringo Starr (singing “Bruce Beaucoup”): “I see Bruce Beaucoup, a man who is lonely and just wants to lose.”

“Look Up” wasn’t the former Beatle’s first choice for the album’s title.

Ringo Starr: “We used to laugh and say, “What do you call the album?” I thought it was “B on Say.” ”

(Ringo laughs.)

Ringo Starr: “Nobody laughed.”

Notice to Beyoncé and everyone else: “Look Up” will be released next month.

And on June 20th, you can catch Ringo & His All-Star Band at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

Ringo Starr: “Ringo and the All-Stars has given me a great opportunity to play behind other players and lead the way.”
