It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas. Especially when you see a bunch of people wearing Santa hats running around SoFlo.
There’s nothing to keep your stockings from getting tangled. It’s called Jolly Jog. This annual event is meant to be a sweaty, sole-searching experience.
Steve Vinovich (Dr. Novos): “So, you’ve gained a little weight.”
Tim Allen (Scott Calvin): “Have you gained a little weight? (shaking his stomach) Does this look a little heavy?
If you’re worried that good ol’ Kris Kringle is a little too much around the middle, working out is the answer.
Sarah Evans: “Run, run, Rudolph, Santa is getting to town.”
The fun training begins in the third year.
Frankie Ruiz: “It’s obviously Christmas time and it’s very festive and runners tend to be in the same mood. So we created this tradition in Miami, now known as the Jolly Jog. .”
Jogging is a magic word. Because slow and steady wins the race.
Frankie Lewis: “We’re actually planning a route that’s about 5 kilometers, or 3.1 miles. There’s no time limit, so you can basically take as long as you want.”
I really love this. No judgment on your pace.
Frankie Lewis: “It’s up to you whether you want to go outside and just walk or jog or race or run.”
Or something that suits your race.
Frankie Lewis: “In a real festive mood, some people came out wearing costumes in Christmas colors. Would you like to come out dressed up head to toe like Santa? Good luck. In fact, in a Santa costume I even wore one.
And the good news is that this fun run is free. Simply bring an unwrapped toy to benefit Christie House.
Frankie Lewis: “In exchange for your unwrapped toy, we’ll give you Christmas lights and a Santa hat. For an extra $20, get real Christmas lights, a Santa hat, a lace medal and a cocktail. You can.”
The Miami edition begins and ends at Pier 5 in Bayside.
Frankie Lewis: “This is going to be on Thursday, but for some reason you can’t make it or you want to do two.The next week, December 19th, we’ll be at The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale. ”
Both upbeat cardio workouts take place at night, perfect for skyline views.
Frankie Lewis: “If you jog or run regularly, invite someone to a new outing. If you’ve never been out before, try something new. Do good, have fun, and since it’s Christmas time, it’s time to give back.”
Jolly Jog is from 7pm to 11pm
