MIAMI (WSVN) – Police are searching for the person responsible for a hit-and-run in Miami that sent two people to the hospital.
Miami police said they responded to the area of Northwest 7th Avenue and 36th Street after a man and woman riding a motorcycle were struck by a vehicle.
Both victims were taken to Ryder Trauma Center in Jackson for treatment of their injuries.
Officials said one of the victims suffered multiple skull fractures, bleeding on the brain, a collapsed lung and a broken leg.
The motorbike lay in the rubble at the scene and could be seen by shaken onlookers who witnessed the incident.
Police said Isaac Desmond Florence crashed his Jeep Compass into two people on his motorcycle and fled on foot before they arrived.
Nearby on Northwest Fifth Avenue, Miami Police Department officers investigated a neighboring police report.
Florence was later spotted nearby in another vehicle, where officers stopped and arrested her, Miami police said.
Police say the man admitted to blowing out the SUV’s lights and hitting the two victims with his motorcycle before fleeing the scene.
Florence is charged with fleeing the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury and driving without a license.
