FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – The Florida Panthers will keep starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky at home to start a two-game road trip and send standout rookie Macky Samoskevich to the minor leagues.
There are big reasons for both moves.
With the Bobrovskys expecting a baby, the Panthers on Monday recalled goaltender Chris Driedger from Charlotte’s AHL affiliate and loaned Samoskevic to the Checkers in a salary-cap-compliant move.
The Panthers play at Pittsburgh on Tuesday and Philadelphia on Thursday.
Bobrovsky has an 11-5-1 record this season as the defending Stanley Cup champion. Samoskevic has scored five goals in the last 13 games, including three game-winning goals, and the Panthers are 5-0-0 when he scores.
