Moe. Brings 35 Years of Jam-Rock to Miami Beach
After three decades of dynamic performances, the influential jam-rock band Moe. is set to take the stage at the Miami Beach Bandshell next Friday, marking a significant milestone in their music journey.
A Legacy of Music
Since their inception in the vibrant atmosphere of Wetlands Preserve in New York City, Moe. has established a strong presence in the music industry. Now celebrating their 35th anniversary, bassist Rob Derhak reflects on their enduring partnership: “I mean, this is our 35th year of playing music together as a band. Most people don’t have jobs for that long.”
Performance Format
The band maintains a unique concert format that engages their audience. “Every night we do two sets,” Derhak explains. “Our first set’s an hour, or we do an hour and 15 minutes. The second one’s about an hour and a half with an encore, and that all came about from the Wetlands.”
For aspiring musicians, Derhak offers insightful advice: “You do one set, set break, so people can buy drinks and do all that and socialize, then you come back and do the next one.”
New Releases
Moe. continues to evolve musically with their recent album, Circle of Giants. This latest release showcases a layered and complex sound, signifying a fresh chapter for the band. Derhak notes, “It kinda like opens up a new sound for us. We’ve got, like, a real layered vibey sound to the record.”
Excitement for Miami
The band members are eager to perform in Miami Beach, with Derhak expressing enthusiasm for the locale: “It’s beautiful, it’s beautiful, I love it. Get down there and warm my buns up, be around the beautiful people. I can’t wait.”
