Marlins Power Past Yankees in Miami with Dominant Home Run Display

by Miami Highlight Contributor

Miami, FL — On August 2, 2025, the Miami Marlins posted a commanding 2–0 shutout over the New York Yankees at loanDepot Park. The victory was anchored by two solo home runs from breakout rookie Agustín Ramírez, who notched his 17th homer of the season—all the offense the Marlins needed. The win pushed Miami’s record to 54–55 overall and extended their remarkable run to 29–14 since mid‑June.

On the mound, Eury Pérez delivered six stellar innings of shutout ball, striking out five and allowing just two hits. His performance continued the strong form he showed throughout July, reinforcing his emergence as a key young arm in Miami’s rotation. Relievers Ronny Henriquez and Tyler Phillips each worked a scoreless inning before Calvin Faucher closed out the game for his 11th save of the season, sealing another Marlins shutout.

Defensively, Miami made an early highlight play when left fielder Kyle Stowers gunned down a speeding runner at home plate in the first inning, setting the tone for a game built on fundamentals and focus.

Ramírez, a former Yankees prospect acquired in exchange for Jazz Chisholm Jr., delivered a stunning reminder of his potential. He homered in the first inning on a 421-foot blast to left-center, and again in the fourth with a 418-foot shot to center, both off rookie Cam Schlittler. The homers, combined with his production from the previous night, underscore why he’s pacing all National League rookies in homers, RBIs, doubles, and runs.

For the Yankees, rookie Cam Schlittler absorbed the loss. He surrendered both of Ramírez’s homers over five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. With the loss, the Yankees fell to 60–51 while Miami improved to just one game below .500.

Miami’s win capped off a dominant stretch that included three shutouts in their last four games and clinched the series win over New York. The Marlins have now claimed six straight series and gone 10‑1‑1 in their past 12, a run not seen since their 1997 World Series–winning campaign.

With the series secured and the Marlins clicking on all fronts, they’ve entered mid-August with serious momentum. The storylines now center on Ramírez’s breakout trajectory and Pérez’s rising presence in the young pitching rotation—all major positives for Miami moving forward.
