Teen Driver Injured In North Miami Beach Hit And Run Identified, Charged

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) – Police have identified and charged a 21-year-old woman in connection with a hit-and-run that sent a 15-year-old boy to the hospital outside a shopping plaza in North Miami Beach.

North Miami Beach police said Jonice Keel was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk along Northeast 6th Street near 167th Street when she struck the victim Wednesday afternoon.

Surveillance camera footage captured the moment of the collision.

Detectives said Keels drove away shortly after, but officers were able to find her and arrest her.

The young victim, Juan Pinilla, told 7News on Thursday that he was shaken up after the accident. The boy stayed at the hospital overnight and is now recuperating at home.

Keels is charged with leaving the scene of an accident without serious injury.
