Ice Cube Launches Big3 Basketball League and National Tour
Ice Cube, the renowned rapper and actor, is set to make significant moves this summer with the introduction of his Big3 basketball league in Miami. With a vibrant career spanning 40 years, Cube remains a dynamic force in both the music and sports industries.
The Big3 Basketball League Returns
This will mark the eighth season of the Big3 league, which features a distinctive three-on-three basketball format. Highlighting its uniqueness, the league includes engaging elements such as a four-point shot and a first-to-50-point rule.
For this season, a new team, the Miami 305, is being developed. Ice Cube expressed excitement about key player acquisitions. He stated: “He wanted Mike Beasley and he wanted Mario Chalmers, who are Miami beloved players. And Reggie Evans. So, we’ll see who else they pick May 15 in the Big3 draft.”
Season Kick-Off and Fan Engagement
Miami fans will have the opportunity to support their new team, with the first game scheduled at the Kaseya Center on June 29. Cube encourages local supporters, saying, “You can root them on all summer. So you know, you got a team, hopefully, that can bring a championship to Miami.”
“Truth to Power” Tour Announcement
In addition to the league, Ice Cube is preparing for his headlining tour, called the “Truth to Power Tour: 4 Decades of Attitude,” which will be his first national tour in over a decade. He reflected on this milestone, stating: “This year, I’ve been involved in music for 40 years. I started in 1985.”
With a goal of delivering a memorable experience to longtime fans, Cube aims to create a grand production for the tour. He noted, “It’s been a great ride. A great journey. Lot of good music. So I wanted to put together a big production for the fans that are down from day one.”
Upcoming Events in Florida
The tour will make its closest stop in Tampa on September 11. Cube has plans to expand his performances to other locations in Florida, confirming, “If I come anywhere near, you know I’m worth the trip.”
