Jeremiah Ellis, a professional player, highlighted the lucrative potential of the sport, stating, “I think I made 60 grand in prize money last year.”

Stacey Moore, the Commissioner of the American Cornhole League, noted the strategic depth of the game, saying, “There’s a lot more strategy than people think at first. A lot of new shots have also evolved over the years. The top players have taken the game to another level.” The development of advanced techniques has raised the level of play significantly, attracting more players into the fold.

Pro player Sarah Cassidy, the 2020 world champion, emphasized the competitive aspect, sharing, “I won the world championship back in 2020, and that’s when I got the ticket to become pro,” marking her fifth year in professional competition.

To enhance the experience, professionals took time to mentor amateurs during the event. Sarah Cassidy advised, “The best strategy is to have a flatter bag. The flatter the bag, the more consistent you can throw,” while Jeremiah Ellis recommended, “Finding a comfortable grip in your hand and a nice smooth motion will help you tremendously.”

The ACL boasts over $1 million in total prize money for the season, with events planned worldwide. As interest in the sport thrives, Jeremiah Ellis reflected on what he appreciates most about cornhole: “The community, the people is my favorite part.”

According to Stacey Moore, the game’s duality—encompassing both offense and defense—sets it apart from similar sports: “Unlike bowling, where it’s just you and the bowling ball and the lane and pins, the offense and defensive nature of this sport and the cadence of it, I think, is what attracts people.”
