(CNN) Rose Blanchard, the gypsy who gained notoriety for her role in the murder of her abusive mother, has given birth to her first child.
Blanchard’s boyfriend, Ken Aaker, shared an image of the newborn mother and her baby with the caption: “Welcoming 2025 with the best gift ever.”
According to People magazine, her child was born on December 28th, one year after she was released from prison.
Ahead of the baby’s birth, Blanchard revealed to PEOPLE that the baby’s name would be Aurora, a nod to the couple’s love for the aurora borealis (better known as the aurora borealis).
Blanchard was released in December 2023 after serving more than seven years of a 10-year sentence for helping kill her mother, Dee Dee. Blanchard was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. In Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a caregiver fakes a child’s illness or induces symptoms to make the child sick.
Blanchard reunited with her ex-fiancée Ulker in 2024. She was previously married to Ryan Anderson, but filed for divorce in April.
She told fans in a YouTube video in July that the pregnancy was not planned.
“It was completely unexpected, but we are both so excited to embark on this new journey of parenthood,” she said in the video.
Blanchard’s story and role in her mother’s death captivated true crime fans and was dramatized in the Hulu series The Act in 2019. After her release, she began telling her own story, appearing on the Lifetime reality series “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup” and publishing a memoir in December.
