Art Beat Miami is in full swing during Art Week. They’re bringing rhythmic vibes to unusual locations throughout SoFlo, and this year they’re going loco for locomotives.
Celebrating uniqueness is what Art Beat Miami is all about.
Marie Luisant, Producer of Art Beat Miami: “This is our 11th year featuring art, music, food, fashion and fun. We bring art to communities that don’t normally see or experience art. For example, right now we’re at Brightline Miami.
Brightline is feeling the beat.
Marie Louisant: “This is a train station, but we’re bringing art to the masses. We have some beautiful sculptures upstairs as well as downstairs. The murals will remain up all year round. Brightline We’ll have two musical guests on opening night: We’ve got grown people (expletive), SHYT.

Jania Harden: “A combination of artists, musicians, DJs, MCs and other people decided to come together and create something for grown-up people.”
They’re layering a musical atmosphere into the station for opening night.
Jania Harden: “First you hear the sound from the DJ, then the saxophone player comes, then the MC comes, then I’m at the top. Then when people are coming off the train, or the train If we go up the escalator, they will hear us.”

Tanya Marie McClendon, Designer: “When I was asked to do Brightline, I lost my mind. I said yes! I’m doing it because it’s different. I want happiness and freedom. In all, one of my mottos is to dress how my soul feels.”
Tanya Marie presents a non-traditional runway show.
Tanya Marie McClendon: “It’s like an interactive flash mob. They’re going to have boxes and operas and it’s going to be vibrant and really cool.”
And the food is always cool.
Marie Louisant: “Saturday will be our signature event, the Chefs of the Caribbean Celebrity Brunch. Eat, listen to great music, and have art in the background.” This is an opportunity to get out and basically appreciate the visual and performing arts and absorb the culture and creativity of South Florida and its beauty.”
