(WSVN) – Children are scared to walk outside their home after being attacked by a dog. The incident occurred in the Broward area, but one parent said the county’s response wasn’t enough. 7’s Heather Walker investigates this story. This story contains some photos that may be difficult to see.
King Davis’ body is littered with claw marks and dog bite scars.
King Davis/Dog Attack: “I got bitten on the stomach here and here. And my fingers, well, one of them is broken.”
The 8-year-old boy is physically and mentally scarred.
King Davis: “I got so scared I started shaking.”
King knocked on his neighbor’s door, and when the door opened, a dog jumped out and attacked him.
King Davis: “I saw people screaming on the phone and trying to beat the dog away from me. It was a really scary time for me.”
His mother, Brittany, was at work when she received a phone call.
Brittany Sanguinetti / Son attacked by dog: “I didn’t want to use my phone or my GPS. Like FaceTime, I saw so much blood on the way, on the front door, in the living room, all over the room. “Because I’m crying hysterically when I see it.” After hearing his story, I said to my mother, “Grandma, I don’t want to die. Grandma, I don’t want to die.”
Mr. King had 11 wounds. Nine of them required stitches and had broken fingers. This happened in December and then two months later.
Brittany Sanguinetti: The dog was ordered to be muzzled. The very day the muzzle order was issued, the dogs went outside again. They followed the son and father from the car to the front door as if they were in the living room. ”
A month later, in March, the dogs were caught on camera chasing a 14-year-old boy and biting his leg.
We contacted the dog’s owner.
Dog owner: “My dog is not aggressive. My dog is reacting to the nonsense we have been exposed to for the past 11 months that we have lived here.”
The dog’s owner said King repeatedly banged on the door, provoking the dog to attack. When asked about the second incident in which the dog became loose, the owner said he had no comment.
But King’s mother says the county needs to resolve the issue.
Brittany Sanguinetti. It’s really sad when a child gets bitten again. It’s like they’re almost waiting for someone to die before they actually take action against these people. ”
A Broward County spokesperson told 7Investigates that they are aware of the dog attacks and have issued multiple citations, but that the dogs will not be removed until the victims submit affidavits to the county. The family says it cannot be considered “dangerous” and claims they were not told to do so.
Brittany Sanguinetti: We have them on camera and we have pictures. What would it take to hold these people responsible for their dog hurting someone? ”
The families of both victims want the dogs to be labeled as dangerous. If animal control officials decide to do so, the animals must be confined in one of these cages, muzzled, and microchipped.
Brittany Sanguinetti: “They’re a threat to everyone here.”
But that threat may soon disappear, as the dog’s owner says he is looking for a new place to live.
