A 5 Year Old Child Battling Leukemia Rides The Batmobile In A

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) – A South Florida hospital held a superhero-themed Parade of Hope for young patients.

Officials from the Sara Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center attended Thursday morning’s event.

The biggest moment came when the Batmobile sped by, carrying 5-year-old Jacob Heitmeyer and Santa at the wheel.

Back in 2021, Jacob was diagnosed with leukemia and had to undergo two and a half years of intensive treatment.

This year, after treatment, she started attending kindergarten.

“He was so excited to do it,” said Seth Heitmeyer, Jacob’s father. “He loves superheroes, he loves Halloween, he loves dressing up, so this was perfect for him.”

Other characters such as Buzz Lightyear, Bumblebee and the Hulk also greeted the children on horseback.
