FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) – The countdown to this year’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Winterfest Boat Parade has officially begun.
This annual festival gives South Florida an opportunity to showcase its holiday spirit while also benefiting the local community.
Hailed as “the best show of H20,” dozens of boaters are expected to take part, with many expected to put the finishing touches on their boats on Thursday.
Last year’s event was canceled due to weather in an unexpected twist, making it the most anticipated event of the holiday season.
“It’s going to be great. You know, I’m really, really excited because I know the parade is actually canceled and the weather is going to be perfect for everyone. We’re all excited. ,” said Winterfest Chair Lisa Scott Founds.
This year’s theme is “From Sawgrass to Seagrass: Waves of Holiday Cheer.”
“What’s so great about it is we have the coolest themes this year, from sawgrass to seagrass. It really reflects what Broward County has to offer. We’re close to the beach, we’re close to sawgrass. “And it’s just going, ‘It’s so amazing,'” Foundes said.
The unique parade features beautifully decorated boats of all sizes along a 12-mile route.
It all happens Saturday along the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Live performances and special appearances will take place throughout the night.
You’ll also have the chance to take photos with Santa Claus, Stanley the Florida Panther, and more.
The show begins at 6:30 p.m.
Motorists are asked to be advised of the expected road closures in the area. Click here for more information.
