Inter Miami's Diego Gomez Heads To Premier League With Brighton

BRIGHTON, England (AP) – Brighton have agreed to sign 21-year-old Diego Gomez from Inter Miami, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday, with the Paraguayan midfielder completing the move on January 1. It is planned to do so.

Brighton have not disclosed the amount or contract length of Gomez, who joined Miami in 2023 and helped the MLS club reach the playoffs this season.

Brighton technical director David Weir said: “He is a dynamic midfielder who can contribute goals and assists and we believe his physical profile will be important as he adapts to the challenge of the Premier League.” he said.

Gomez represented Paraguay at this summer’s Paris Olympics.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler said: “He has already made a huge impact at both club and international level.” “Like all young players who come to us from overseas, he will need some time to adapt to the Premier League, but we feel he will make a big contribution and we look forward to working with him.”

Brighton sit seventh in the Premier League table and are challenging to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
